US Anti-Gambling Laws Violate WTO Rules
According To EU Commission Written March 28, 2009
Looks like there may be a light at the end of the tunnel not only for U.S. poker players looking to play poker with European online poker rooms but also for the European poker sites themselves.
After a year long investigation, the EU has come to a conclusion that the United States Goverment actions to block the US player base of poker players from playing poker online at European Gambling sites violates the WTO (World Trade Organization) rules for international trading.
There happens to be a new bill in plan to be introduced to overturn the UIGEA. The person who plans on introducing this new bill is Barney Frank, House of Representatives Finacial Committee Chairman (D-MA).
If this bill is introduced it will most likely be introduced after the mid-April congressional hiatus. Speaking for the U.S. Trade Representative Office, Nefeterius Mcpherson said that the Dept of Justice and themselves (UTRO) are reviewing everything and plan in the future to discuss it with the EU.
